IQNA – The first group of Iranian pilgrims departed from Medina for Mecca on Sunday evening to take part in Hajj 2026.

The first group of Iranian Hajj pilgrims arrived in Mecca on May 3, 2026.

According to the Hajj and Pilgrimage Information Center, the first group of Iranian pilgrims, consisting of about 1,400 men and women in 13 batches, left Medina for Mecca after attending the Miqat of the Shajarah Mosque and becoming Muhrim to perform the Hajj rituals and rites while chanting Labaik.

They later arrived in the holy city of Mecca, the report said.

According to the plan, the transfer of these pilgrims was done via the Haramain Express Train; a route that takes about two and a half hours; while in previous years, this route would have taken more than eight hours by bus.

With the arrival of these caravans, the process of settling Iranian pilgrims in Mecca entered the implementation phase, and the hotels where Iranian pilgrims are accommodated welcomed the first group of pilgrims.

On Sunday, Hojat-ol-islam Seyed Abdol Fattah Nawab, the representative of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution for Hajj and Pilgrimage Affairs, and Alireza Rashidian, the head of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization, arrived in Medina.
